Holiday Beauty Essentials!

Since I'm going on holidays in a few weeks I thought I'd share some of my holiday tips and tricks with you. The first post in my summer holidays series is about the beauty products I swear by when I'm away.

Baby Wipes
Ok these are an essential part of my daily life and go with me everywhere. I use them for taking off make up and they're just handy to have around the house anyway. These will defo be coming with me on hols.

Tangle Teezer
This was mentioned in my June Favourites post and it will defo be coming on hols with me. My hair goes crazy on hols with the humidity and stuff so I'm hoping this will tame it a bit. I usually tie my hair up anyway when I'm away coz it's easier but at least I have the option of a quickly straightened hairstyle with this. I seriously recommend buying one.

Leave in Conditioner
I bought the Aussie leave in conditioner last summer before my hols. I had the balyage done and my hair was ruined from the bleach. I heard about Aussie and tried it and loved it. It was about €6/€7 but I still have some left and I use it every time I wash my hair. This is perfect in warmer weather when the sun tends to dry out my hair. I used it on hols last year and my hair was in a much better condition than it was before. I will defo repurchase before I go away this year.

Nail Polish
This is a must! I'm not too pushed about painting my finger nails but I think toe nails look weird on hols without a bit of colour. I usually pick a nice, bright, summery colour and paint them before I go. I bring the same colour with me and top up throughout the holiday if I need to.

Moisturiser
This is defo an essential when going away. The sun can really dry out your skin so it's important to moisturise every night. I will admit I am pretty bad for doing this but I really make the effort on hols. I usually apply it after the shower and then let it dry while I do my hair and make up. It dries in no time too if you're in a hot country. A simple supermarket moisturiser or body butter works just as great as a high end product. I even find after sun containing aloe vera really helps your skin on hols too.

These are my main beauty essentials that I tend to bring on hols. Obviously there's the make up and you need sun cream and all that but you don't need me to tell you that! Wear a high factor sun cream and always reapply!

Hope you enjoyed this post. There'll be more posts coming in this summer holiday series so stay tuned!

June Favourites!

So since June is almost over (OMG it went so fast) I thought I'd share some of the things I've been loving throughout the month.

Beauty
Tangle Teezer
I bought one of these bad boys a few months ago and I've been constantly using it this month. You can pick them up in Boots but I got a cheaper version for only €1.50 in Penneys. First of all I hate brushing my hair especially when it's wet. I've long, thick, curly hair and it is ANNOYING to tame! Using the tangle teezer is actually helpful though. It doesn't take me too long to brush my hair with it and when it comes to blowdrying it, there's practically no curls or frizz so it only takes a couple of mins to straighten which is a relief for me. I highly recommend getting one.

Benefit's They're Real Mascara
I did a whole review on this a couple of posts back so I'm not gonna talk too much about it but I've been using it so much this month. It doesn't clump, the wand gets loads of product on it and it helps curl and lengthen your lashes. Perfect!

Catrice Eyebrow Set
I have a beauty haul coming soon and this will be included in it but I've been loving this product loads so I thought I'd include it in it. It has two colours; a lighter brown and a darker one. You also get a mini angled brush and tweezers. I use this when I'm going out for a fuller brow and it' really good. It's super pigmented and really fills in your brows. It was really cheap too.

Catrice All Round Concealer
Again, this will be included in my haul post. The palette has a green, pink and three beige concealers to hide every possible blemish. It's a creamy consistency too which I found stays on really well compared to the liquid ones I've previously used.

Fashion
Statement Necklaces
These are so on trend at the mo and can really make an outfit. I only have 3 (one I just bought today) but I've really been wearing them a lot this month. I think they look gorgeous with a plain maxi dress or top and really brighten up an outfit.

Random
Candy Crush
Ok I've had this app for a good few months but I am obsessed with it this month. I literally have been on the same level all month and I cannot stop playing it. It's pretty addictive!

Fruit Mania
Another addictive app!!!! Kinda similar to candy crush. I usually play this when I run out of lives on candy crush haha!

There wasn't too many things I've been using quite a bit this month but I thought I'd do a post anyway! Let me know what you've been loving this month and what kind of posts you'd like me to do too. Don't forget you can follow my blog by entering your email address too.

Next few posts will be hauls and summer based posts. Till then...

Quick & Easy Summer Hairstyles!

Well since summer is finally here I thought I'd share some of my favourite go-to summer hairstyles. All these hairstyles are really quick and easy to do and are perfect for summer.

Beach Waves
Ok it's never really summer without beach waves whether they are naturally achieved or if a bit of work went into achieving them. They are so cute and perfect if you're looking for that messy or boho look. They're so quick and easy to achieve. You can tie your hair up into a high, tight, twisted bun and leave it there until you are ready to go out. It's often best to do this straight out of the shower so it has more time to set. If you're in a sunny country, I'd usually go outside to do my make up to let it dry quicker. Alternatively, you can make your own DIY Beach Waves Hair Spray. All you need is some water, sea salt, essential oil and a little bit of gel mixed together in a spray bottle and you're good to go. Spray on to damp hair and just simply scrunch! Beach waves look great on their own or with a few braids going through them.

Fishtail Braid
Another really simple look. This works best on longer hair. Just plait to the side or behind and you're good to go. You can make it loose and tug on the braid for a messier look or brush tightly for a neater finish.

Messy Bun
Again, another simple and quick hairstyle. This look is one of my favs because it's so quick and I love having my hair tied back when it's hot. Plus it saves me time having to properly style it. Literally just put your hair in a high ponytail and shape it into a bun (don't be neat!) and just keep pulling at it til you get your look. Throw a few clips in and it's a perfect look. Add a little braid or a bow if you're feeling fancy!

Doughnut Bun
This is the more neater style bun. You can buy the doughnuts practically anywhere! I got mine in Penneys for about €1.50. Put your hair in a ponytail, put the doughnut through it and then cover it with your hair clipping back any left over hair. It's perfect for a more dressy look and is really quick and simple to achieve.

So they're usually my go-to summer hairstyles. They're so quick and easy to achieve and are perfect if you're in a rush. Each look can be made completely different even by adding an accessory or a simple braid.

Have fun experimenting with these looks.

Looking Good at the Gym!

Ok so here's a quick post for those of you who still wanna look that little girly while at the gym!

First of all I hate using gyms with men (nah that's really just an excuse I'm just not really into this whole exercising thing at all!). And I always feel weird just sweating it out and letting my no make up face be exposed. I'm not conscious of it but let's be fair...some things should not be seen in public; or at least should be covered up haha! I also hate those girls that come in with a face full of make up; something you'd expect to see someone wear on a night out. But a little make up is fine by me especially if it makes you feel more comfortable.

I usually keep my make up light anyway so going to the gym I'd pretty much do my normal day-to-day make up without being totally neat about it. I start off with my Rimmel 25 hour lasting finish foundation and concealer. Then a little powder and bronzer and that's it! Nothing major.

Next it's the outfit...Obv this is the most important part. I just bought these 3/4 length leggings from Sports Direct and they're perfect. They're fitted and perfect for exercising and they were only €12! You can buy them here! I got them in a size XS.

Then I'd usually wear any sort of a vest top (pink is preferable!). Or in the winter if it's a little colder I wear a breathable long sleeved top I got from the Dublin marathon 2 years ago.

Now no outfit (even a gym outfit) is complete without shoes. I have the most gorgeous pair of runners that Kevin got me for my birthday. They are so unbelievably comfortable and I actually love them. Plus they're really cute! They were €42 on Sports Direct again and they can be purchased here!

For hair I'd just go with a normal ponytail! With an extra bobble for added protection haha!

That's it for my gym outfit hope it helps :)

OOTN!

Ok so here is my first Outfit Of The Night post!

It was my cousin's birthday on Friday so we went out for a few drinks and I thought I'd do a quick post on what I wore. It's a really simple and inexpensive look and it's perfect for summer.

Ok so the skirt is from Penneys and I absolutely love it! It has an elasticated waist band and it's really comfortable. The material is kind of heavy but it's so flowy you'd never be really too warm in it. I love the pattern on it and can't wait to wear it on holidays. I think it might look nice in the winter too with a pair of black tights. I bought this about 2 weeks ago for €11.

The top is just a plain black tank top. You can get these anywhere. The one I have is again from Penneys and was €3. I think a plain top is best with this skirt as a more dressy top could clash with the pattern in the skirt.

I got the shoes around the end of April/start of May to wear for my birthday. I am in love with the colour. I think they can really brighten up a dark outfit. I got them in New Look for about €22 I think.

I kept the jewellery simple. I just wore a silver statement necklace that I got in Penneys a while back. I wore a big watch that my boyfriend got me about 2 years ago and I also have a ring and my Pandora bracelet that Kevin also got me that I always wear.

Going out it was a little cool so I just threw on a black blazer and was good to go!

Hope you enjoyed this post! If you've tried this look or have other ideas for this look or for future posts I'd love to hear them so comment or tweet me them!

Converse Love!

In the last number of years the amount of people wearing converse has rapidly increased. A couple of years ago, I jumped on the bandwagon and bought a purple pair (R.I.P). Since then I have bought a total of 8 pairs!

I have two pairs of the boot-style ones, three of the chuck taylor-style ones and I recently threw out two other pairs (they really should have been thrown out about a year ago!).

I think they are so stylish and really easy to wear with almost anything. I personally love the boot style ones with jeans or leggings tucked into them paired with a long tshirt or baggy jumper. For the summer I think they are so cute with a pair of shorts. I’ve recently seen them being worn with skirts and midi/maxi dresses and there’s something really edgy about that look that I love. They are really comfortable and literally can be paired with almost anything! They’re such an effortless piece and totally on-trend. I don’t think they’ll be going out of trend anytime soon anyway!

Benefit’s They’re Real Review!

I’ve never tried anything by Benefit before until last Christmas when Kevin’s mom bought me a gift box. The box had a few samples of products and a full size version of the High Beam and the Peek-A-Bright-Eyes illuminating kit. My fav product out of the box was definitely the They’re Real! mascara.

I only got a sample of the mascara so I used it up pretty quickly and I will admit I was a little reluctant to spend €26 on the full sized product. I received a voucher for Debenhams for my birthday and I thought I’d splash out and buy it and I must say it is definitely one of the best beauty products I’ve purchased.

I’ve always had to use two mascaras before; one that would get loads of product on it and the other with a wider wand that would de-clump and curl my lashes. Benefit’s They’re Real! has been the first mascara I’ve used that does both. It gets loads of mascara on the wand to coat your lashes yet de-clumps and shapes them at the same time. It also helps curl your lashes and makes them look longer.

It is a little pricey but you definitely get your value for money. And since I used two mascaras before, both combined almost add up to the same amount I paid for the Benefit one. I have since tried the Bad Gal Lash mascara also by Benefit but I find They’re Real! SO much better.

I would definitely recommend this mascara to anyone. It is my favourite mascara I’ve used so far and I love the way it doesn’t clump your lashes. I will definitely re-purchase it!

Hope this helps with your mascara purchases!

Maxi Love!

Ok so it's been a while since my last post but I've been busy! Since summer is finally here, I thought I'd make a post about maxi dresses.

Maxi dresses and maxi skirts are so on-trend every summer and they are so versatile. They can be dressed up to be worn at night or dressed down for a more casual daytime look. I love wearing mine on holidays at night with a statement necklace and nice sandals. A little belt across the middle can also look good. They can even be altered when wearing them here in Ireland to make them more suitable for our colder climate. A light knitted jumper or cardigan goes great over them or even a blazer or denim jacket. Accessories are the key to styling a maxi dress! I personally love chunky necklaces and a big watch.

Boohoo do great maxis and I bought a plain black one last week and I must say it's gorgeous. It fits perfectly and is really light so it's not too hot to wear on holidays and it was only €15! I can't wait to wear it with my new sandals (shown in my recent purchases post) and a chunky gold necklace and a gold watch. Penney's are also great for maxis as well as Asos, Missguided and New Look.

All of the looks pictured above can be found on my Pinterest board "Fashion".

Hopefully I can start posting more regularly now with more summer looks and fashion ideas. I will have holiday essentials and beauty and clothing hauls coming soon so make sure to keep an eye out for those!
